In the summer of 1867, he came west and located Holton, Kan. He resided in this city until the day of his death. On Oct. 1, 1860, he was united in marriage Cynthiana Smith. This union was blessed with three children, namely two sons, William and Louis, and one daughter, Mrs. H. F. McQuillan, all of Holton, Kan.... In the summer of 1867, he came west and located Holton, Kan. He resided in this city until the day of his death. On Oct. 1, 1860, he was united in marriage Cynthiana Smith. The widow, the children, two granddaughters, three sisters, namely: Mrs. C. A. Horn, Mary E. Barnes, and Lucy Ferguson, all of Topeka, Kan., and one brother, Joseph Ferguson, of Oklahoma remain to mourn his loss …. Many a Holton man has met this humble carpenter and wagon maker in his little shop southwest of the square …. For over forty years he was a faithful member of the Baptist church of Holton, and served as deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher …. On the 16th day of January, 1918, he suffered a stroke of paralysis, from which he never rallied enough to overcome it. He lingered until the evening of the 23rd, and passed quietly away … He attained the age of 76 years, 2 months and 2 days …. The remains to the Holton cemetery, where they were laid to rest …. McQuillan of Salina, were called to Holton last Thursday by the death of N. B. Ferguson. Mrs. Chas. A. Horn, Miss Lucy Ferguson, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Barnes and daughter Mrs. Anita Erskine of Topeka, attended the funeral of their brother and uncle, Mr. N. B. Ferguson last Saturday.
