Mrs. Daniel Irwin passed away at her home in Ogden Iowa, at 8:00 o'clock Tuesday evening, July 30th after a lingering and painful illness. Narcissa Dyke was born in Owen County, Kentucky, April 29, 1841, and was in her 67th year at the time of her death. She grew to young womanhood in her native state and later the family moved to McLean County, Illinois, where on August 31, 1858, she was united in marriage to Mr. Daniel Irwin, a native of Ohio. They resided on a farm in McLean County until 1888 when they came to Boone County and settled on a farm in Marcy Township, where they resided four years and then removed to a farm in Yell Township. Later when their family was all settled for themselves they gave up active work and removed to Ogden to spend their last years in well-earned rest and comfort. To Mr. and Mrs. Irwin were born twelve children, three of whom died in infancy, the nine remaining children, who with the aged husband and a number of grand children are left to mourn her death are: Mrs. A.H. Stuzman, Hubbard, Iowa, Mrs. B.F. Rinehart, Cairo, Missouri, Geo. L. Irwin, Hoquiam, Washington, Mrs. Cawfield, Mrs. H.E. Elliott and John A. Irwin, Tracy, Minn., and Mrs. H.J. Rust, Mrs. Oliver Porter and Jesse L. Irwin, Ogden Iowa. The funeral services were held from the Congregational church in Ogden at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. W.T. Seeley and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends, come to pay a last tribute of esteem to a noble woman. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in Glenwood cemetery. Mrs. Irwin was always a woman of noble character and gentle and loving disposition that assured her the highest esteem and admiration of all who knew her and the grief stricken husband and children are given the earnest sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their bereavement.
