Description	:	Nathan H. Heise, 88, of Shell Rock, Iowa passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly. Nathan was born on January 6, 1933, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Edward F. and Mary Sophia (Dralle) Heise. He attended and graduated from the New Hartford High School in 1951 and then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa for two years. Heise, 88, of Shell Rock, Iowa passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly. Nathan was born on January 6, 1933, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Edward F. and Mary Sophia (Dralle) Heise. He attended and graduated from the New Hartford High School in 1951 and then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa for two years. On July 15, 1953, Nathan entered the US Army serving during the Korean War with the HOW Co 2nd BN 11th Armed CAV. He was honorably discharged on June 11, 1955. Following his service, Nathan returned home and began construction work. On July 25, 1959, he was united to Mary C. Stowell at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo. The couple made their home in Waterloo and in 1966, they moved to a farm south of Shell Rock where Nathan farmed and continued his construction work. While farming, Nathan worked for Joe DeWitt Construction for 25 years. The couple then moved to farm in Clarksville and in 1969, Nathan and Mary bought the Heise farm in rural Shell Rock where he was currently living. In 1977, Nathan went to work at the University of Northern Iowa in the Mason/Plant Services Department until retiring in 1995. He enjoyed the Waverly Farmer's Market where he participated for over 18 years. In his spare time, he liked gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing, playing cards and watching sports. Nate was an avid Chicago Cubs and UNI Panther fan. Nathan has been a member of the Avery-Slight American Legion Post #393 in Shell Rock for over 50 years. Survivors are his five children, Colleen (James) Franzen of Waverly, twin sons, Jeff (Shelly) Heise of Waverly and Tim (Tracy) Heise of New Hartford, David (Natalie) Heise of Galesville, Wisconsin and Christine Heise of Shell Rock; 19 grandchildren, Valarie (Matt) Chesnut, Justin Franzen, Adam (Megan) Heise, Amber (Cal) Oberbroecking, Andy (Sheila) Heise, Daniel Heise (Allison Buresh), Adessa Buss, Ana (Trevor) Young, Julia Heise, Jenae (Leah) Jorgensen, Nick Heise, Jordan Heise , Marcy Heise, Charles Heise, Justus Heise, Mikaylea Heise, Carter Heise, Sofia Heise and Piper Heise; 17 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Tacey, Oliver, Nattalee, Mason, Dayton, Bentley, Kyeton, Brooklyn Ann, Brooklyn Avery, Kynlee, Hendricx, Eisen, Sincere, Elise, Paisley and Baby ?; brother, Clarence (Sandy) Heise of Shell Rock, and sister, Nedra Peterson of Shell Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary and great grandson, Logan Tiedt. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:30 am at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Jim Bauer officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Military rites will be conducted by the Avery-Slight American Legion, Post 393 of Shell Rock. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and an hour prior to the service on Saturday. Those attending the visitation and funeral service are encouraged to wear a mask and please dress causal. Memorials may be directed to Heise family for a later designation in Nate's name. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the Heise family with arrangements.
