Neal was born in Urbana, Kansas on June 22, 1921, the son of Jesse and Ida (Hummer) McCoy. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1939, and from Chanute Junior College in 1942 with an Associate's Degree. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942 through 1945. Neal was born in Urbana, Kansas on June 22, 1921, the son of Jesse and Ida (Hummer) McCoy. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1939, and from Chanute Junior College in 1942 with an Associate's Degree. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942 through 1945. Neal worked as a Banker, Farmer, Real Estate Broker, and Auctioneer. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Lions Club. Neal is survived by Janet Fraser, his dear friend and common law wife of twenty years; his children, Martha McCoy and husband Jim of Chanute, KS, David McCoy and wife Nancy of Chanute, KS, and Ben McCoy and wife Jan of Denver, CO; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; his ex-wife Lola Ruth McCoy with whom he had three children and was later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Marion McCoy; a brother, Dewey McCoy; and a sister, Geneva Neely. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, KS. Memorials in his name may be made to Horizon Hospice, Boerstler-May V.F.W. Lodge #1654, or the Chanute Lions Club, and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. **********************************
