Description	:	Ned Augustus Martin, age 81, of Petersburg, W.Va., passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at Grant Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Williamsport, Md., and was a son of the late Gussie Benjamin Martin and Lucy (Poffenberger) Martin. Mr. Martin graduated from Williamsport High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He taught at Howard County High School for two years and was a county... Read More	Ned Augustus Martin, age 81, of Petersburg, W.Va., passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at Grant Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Williamsport, Md., and was a son of the late Gussie Benjamin Martin and Lucy (Poffenberger) Martin. Mr. Martin graduated from Williamsport High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Potomac State College and West Virginia University with a bachelor's and master's degree in agricultural education. He taught at Howard County High School for two years and was a county agent in Howard County, Md. In 1965, he and his family moved to Petersburg, W.Va., where he was a vocational agricultural teacher and FFA adviser at Petersburg High School for 23 years. After his retirement in 1988, he was a real estate salesman for Century 21 Mountain Heritage Realty in Petersburg for several years. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. He was a life member of Potomac Highlands VFW Post 6454 and American Legion Post 78. He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Mary (Walters) Martin; three sons, Tom Martin and wife, Debbie, of Winchester, Va., Ben Martin of Petersburg and Bill Martin of Ranson, W.Va.; one grandson, Gus Martin of Winchester; three sisters, Trixie Bloyer of Williamsport, Betty Hessler of Boonsboro, Md., and Nancy Bowman of Williamsport; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Wednesday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg. Funeral service will be Thursday (March 28, 2013) at 2 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl VanStavern and Robert Mullet, Mennonite speaker. Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery with military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to Petersburg High School Scholarship Fund, 89 Riverview Drive, Petersburg, WV 26847; to Burlington United Methodist Family Services, RR 3, Box 3122, Keyser, WV 26726; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
