Born January 7, 1953, in Athens, he was the son of the late Neil Martin and Harriett Martha Antle Welch Sr. He served in the Navy, and was a member of the Albany AM Vets, and Hocking Valley Sportsmen Club. He is survived by his wife Elsie Irvin Welch and step-daughter Angie Woodyard, and son Neil Martin (Popi) Welch III and granddaughter Mapia, of Chania, Greece; brother Larry Welch of Ladson, S.C.; four sisters, Linda (Don) Hampshire of Versailles, Ohio, Gloria (Paul) Keirns of Amesville, Marcia Welch and Donna Crofoot of Athens; eight half brothers and sisters Ginny (Jim) Cairney Indianapolis IN , Roger Welch Union KY, Gary Welch in PA, Patricia (Bill) Layne of Columbus, Beverlee Antle of The Plains, William (Kathy) Antle of Gahanna, Mary (Sam) Lewis of Albany and James Antle of Athens; Aunt Eleanor B. Antle Birtcher of Athenscc a sister-in-law, Nancy Welch of Topshem, ME; and brothers-in-law Clyde Kirby of Athens, Dan (Alice) Irvin of The Plains; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, and grandparents, he was preceded in death two brothers, Ralph and Charles Welch. Services will be Wednesday at 2 PM, at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, with Rev. William Hixson officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery, where military graveside services will be by Albany VFW, Athens VFW, and KT Crossen American Legion. Friends may call Tuesday 4-7 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
