Read More	Centenarian Dies At 101; Came To Alberta In 1892 RED DEER--Central Alberta's oldest citizen, Neil McPhee, died Tuesday in a Stettler chronic hospital at the age of 101. Born in Mount Forest, Ont., he lived there until he was 25 years old before setting out on his own. He first went to North Dakota and married the former Mary Gilles. Following an active career in the United States, the couple and one child came west in 1892 and started farming in the Edwell district, a few miles east of Red Deer. Upon his retirement in 1916, he went to Vancouver where he lived for about 20 years before returning to the prairies. His wife died in 1943. He spent the rest of his life on the farm with one of his sons until 1955 when he was moved to the Stettler hospital. He celebrated his 100th birthday at the Red Deer Municipal Hospital where he was confined because of a fractured hip. On Jan. 22, 1957, he celebrated his 101st birthday in reasonably good health. Surviving are three sons, James, Neil of Penhold, and Charles of Red Deer; three daughters, Mrs. J.B. White, Red Deer, Mrs. A. Brereton of Elnora and Mrs. J. Hay of North Vancouver. There are 23 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at two p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, with Rev. W.R. Bell officiating.
