She spent her entire life in... Read More	FIEDLER, NELLIE ARLENE—Nellie Arlene Fiedler was born to Roy and Zella (Baldwin) Rakestraw on Oct. 15, 1917, near Exeter. She passed away at her home in Geneva on Sunday, Feb. 26, 1995, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 11 days. She was one of seven children in the family. Nellie was raised on the farm near Exeter and attended rural schools near her home. She was married to Earl H. Fiedler on May 7, 1934, at Clary Center, and to this union one son, Larry was born. She spent her entire life in and around the Geneva area. She and Earl enjoyed fishing at the various state lakes in Nebraska when they were younger. She was employed at the J.C. Penney Store in Geneva for over 36 years, starting to work for them in January of 1949, and retiring in April of 1986. After Earl’s death in April of 1977, she continued to work at J. C. Penney Company and also went to many dances at the Flying V. near Utica. In later years she enjoyed playing bingo with friends and also loved to play the pickle cards. She enjoyed spending time with family and with her niece, Ramona Watmore and family. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the American Legion Auxiliary and the United Church of Christ. Nellie also volunteered her time at the Senior Center and was a member of the Senior Center Kitchen Band. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Zella Rakestraw; husband, Earl; sisters, Mildred Ruhl and Lois Hlina; brother, Myrle Rakestraw. She is survived by son, Larry Fiedler and wife Janice; sisters, Elva Robbins and Elsie Grubaugh; brother, William Rakestraw; grandchildren, Barry and Dana and great-grandchild, Logan; sister-in-law, Velma Hoppa and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 3, from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Wanda W. Bennett officiating. Musical selections were “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”. Casket bearers were Mike Bowman, Charles L. Krupicka, Ed Newman, Larry Nichols, Daryl Ruhl and Mike Watmore. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal March 8th, 1995 page 19.
