The Rev. Hugh Smith had charge of the services. Casketbearers were C. W. Whitehead, Clark Baldwin, Leslie Gorsuch, Ray Wood, Warren Stein, and Cliff Knowler. Interment was in the Montezuma cemetery. Obituary Nellie Clare Saunders Zimmerman, was born near Forest Home in Poweshiek County, Iowa, on November 10, 1896, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Albert Saunders, and passed away in Iowa City at 11:15 on Friday, February 21, 1947, following a lingering illness, at the age of 50 years, 3 month, and 11 days. Her entire life ws spent in the New Sharon and Montezuma communities, where she devoted her time and energy to helping everyone she knew. She was always a cheerful person who took a special delight in her work, her flowers, and her many friends. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, ever putting her family's interests ahead of her own. In the neighborhood she will always be remembered for the place she had made among the friends living there. During her girlhood she joined the Forest Home Christian Church, where she was active in its work. On January 27, 1915, she was united in marriage to Charles Zimmerman in Montezuma. To this union was born one son, Forrest James, who resides on a farm near her home. Left to mourn her departure are her husband, Charles; her son, Forrest; her father, Bert Saunders; one sister, Lewie Clements of New Sharon; three brothers, Marsh of New Sharon, and Walter and Ray of Montezuma; two granddaughters, Corrine Kay and Francine Elaine; her nieces and nephews, besides a host of other relatives and her numerous friends.
