Description	:	Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Emerson Baptist Church for Mrs. Bert E. Combs, who died last Wednesday at her home near Emerson. The services were in charge of Rev. J. F. Stille and music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Cheney, Mrs. W. H. Cramer, C. D. Greenwood, with Miss Winifred Hatfield at the piano. Flower ladies were Mrs. Mildred Butcher, Mrs. A. W. Shanor, Mrs. Peggy Goss, and Mrs. Lorraine Hascall. Greenwood, with Miss Winifred Hatfield at the piano. Flower ladies were Mrs. Mildred Butcher, Mrs. A. W. Shanor, Mrs. Peggy Goss, and Mrs. Lorraine Hascall. Those acting as pall bearers included Ivan J. Salmons, Edwin Davis, John Salmons, Vincent Hascall, Dwight Shaw, and Dale Moore. Interment was made in the Emerson Cemetery. Nellie Eleanor Thompson, daughter of James E. and Martha Thompson was born January 4, 1884 at Council Bluffs, Iowa and was called from this life at her lovely country home May 5, 1937, at the age of 53 years, four months, and 1 day. The lady was removed to the Emerson Funeral Home until the hour of the funeral. A. short service was held before going to the church. In 1893 she moved to Malvern where she received her schooling and graduated from the Malven High School in 1904, after which she taught the home school one year. On October 29, 1907, she was united in marriage to Bert E. Combs and to them were born two children, one boy and one girl. Those who survive her and mourn her passing are her husband, two children, Geraldine F. Combs of the home and Paul D. Combs of Pilger, Nebraska, and one grandson, Jimmie Paul Combs. He mother, Mrs. Martha Thompson of Randolph, two brothers and two sister, Mrs. M. V. Wearing of Campton, California, William Thompson of Tabor, Lambert Thompson of Randolph, and Mrs. Ralph Russell of Randolph. The deceased spent her entire married life which was 30 years on the farm where she died and many are her friends in Emerson and in her home community. Mrs. Combs was an active member of the Eastern Star, Union Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies' Aid and Missionary society of her church. Friends and relatives from out of town were Mrs. Mattie Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Russell, Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Thompson and Glen and Frank Kilpatrick, all of Randolph. Mr. and Mrs. Will Thompson, Mrs. Joe Dalton, Brice and Blanche, Mrs. Hattie Lutz, and Mrs. J. W. Mayfield and sons, all of Tabor, Inah Wier and Anna Ivory of Council Bluffs; Mrs. Leo Hirschman of Omaha, Nebraska, G. C. Boston of Malvern; and Mr. and Mrs. Will Miller and daughter of Oakland, and Mrs. M. F. Wearin of Compton, California. I am home in heaven, dear ones, Oh, so happy and so bright!
