MRS ZEPH BELL Sabetha, Fairview and many country neighborhoods were shocked and grieved at the death of Mrs. Zeph Bell, which occurred last Saturday from pneumonia, following a serious operation performed at the Pawnee City hospital. Mrs. Bell had lived in this neighborhood since her childhood where she had a wide acquaintance and lifetime friendships. Since her moving to Sabetha a few years ago she had added many to her long list of friends in town who are sorrowing and sympathetic in her untimely loss. Nellie Shintaffer Bell was born August 4, 1875 on her grandmother's farm three miles south of Sabetha, Kansas, died April 7, 1923. Her last illness was of a serious nature from the first, and was of short duration, but she bore her suffering with patience and fortitude known only to those who ministered to her wants. She was married to Z. J. Bell December 31, 1896. To this union four children were born, one dying in infancy. They lived on a farm north of Sabetha until 1920 when they sold their farm and moved to Sabetha to educate their children and where they have since made their home. Mrs. Bell united with the Baptist church at Fairview, Kansas April 12, 1891. Since living in Sabetha she has attended the Congregational church here. She has lived a conscientious life of high womanly ideas. in her home life her whole thought was for her family, showing them the better side of life. She loved her friends and was always ready to lend a hand, speak a word kind word, or give a smile to help one along. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her departure and cherish her memory her husband and children, Hurbert, Opal and Donald, also her mother, Mrs. Shintaffer, and four sisters, Mrs. Martin Klein, Mrs. Clemens Wempe, Mrs. Plamann and Mrs. Jewell Sellmire, one brother, Arthur Shintaffer, and many sincere friends. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church in Sabetha Sunday afternoon. The large crowd, so large the church would not accommodate them, was tribute paid by a community to one who was held high in their esteem. Interment was in the Sabetha cemetery.
