Hansen, a highly respected and lifetime resident of the Lyons community, who died Thursday at the Oakland Hospital. Rev. Elkan Kemp officiated at the 10:30 a.m. rites. Interment was in the Lyons Cemetery. Nellis I. McKenzie Hansen, daughter of Thomas and Belle McKenzie, was born on a farm east of Lyons, February 11, 1891 and died early Thursday morning, March 2, 1972, after having been in failing health the past few years. She grew to young womanhood in the Divide Center neighborhood. She united in marriage to George E. Hansen in Omaha, February 17, 1915. Three sons were born to this union. The Hansens farmed in the same neighborhood until retiring to Lyons in 1946, where Mrs. Hansen continued to reside following her husband's death. Mrs. Hansen was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church throughout her life, transferring her membership from the Divide Center Church to the First Presbyterian Church in Lyons. Always faithful to her church, she was a longtime and active member of the United Presbyterian Women's group as long as her health permitted. She was a valued member charter member of the VFW Auxiliary and had recently received her twenty-five year pin. A quiet, reserved home loving person, Mrs. Hansen was devoted to the comfort and well being of her family, neighbors and friends. She was known for her friendliness and concern and readiness to help, whenever needed, whether it be for a friends, her church, an organization or the community. Preceding her in death were her husband, George, a son, Harold and an infant son. Survivors include her son and wife, Harry and Elsie Hansen; two granddaughters, Marinell (Gary) Neuhaus of Columbia and Carolie (Daniel) Smith of MIlford, Nebraska; also a host of other relatives and friends. ...Provided by a family member
