Description	:	Nellie Irene Lagasse, 90, died Friday at Park Villa Care Home, Clyde. She was born Nellie Irene McHenry on December 11, 1893, in Rice, Kansas, to Chalmers and Mary Catherine Barlow McHenry. She lived most of her life in the Rice Community. She was a homemaker and member of the Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women and Concordia Garden Club. She was married to Herbert Philemon Lagasse in 1918 and to this union three daughters were born, Willomae, Bernis and Mariester. She was born Nellie Irene McHenry on December 11, 1893, in Rice, Kansas, to Chalmers and Mary Catherine Barlow McHenry. She lived most of her life in the Rice Community. She was a homemaker and member of the Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women and Concordia Garden Club. She was married to Herbert Philemon Lagasse in 1918 and to this union three daughters were born, Willomae, Bernis and Mariester. In the early 1930's when a neighbor couple passed away, Herbert and Nellie were appointed guardians of their two children, Louise and Max Krummel. The children moved into the Lagasse home to spend their adolescent years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, in 1972; and her daughter, Bernis Irene, in 1937; as well as her parents and two brothers, Carl Alden McHenry and Dean Francis McHenry. She is survived by her daughters, Willomae (Donald) Kauffman of Clyde and Mariester (Dean) Holbert of Concordia; two sisters, Ola Boll of Kansas City and Beulah Ott of Concordia; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral was at the Presbyterian Church, Concordia, Rev. Darrell Silkman officiating. Burial at the Rice Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the church.
