Chronicle of the date of Friday June 28th, contains the following obituary of Mrs. Nellie Moulton, whose death occurred the Sunday morning previous, and who is a sister of the late Mrs. Cora Aiken, whose obituary appeared in these columns a few months ago, and who was a niece of Mrs. J. E. Hidden of this village. Mrs. Nellie Moulton died at her home in this city on Sunday morning, June 23, at 2 a.m. . Her death came as a great shock, not only to the family, but to the community as well, for although her health had been failing for a year or more, she had never complained, and no one knew that her malady was al all serious until the latter part of last week. At that time her condition had become so serious that Dr. Bell, a Minneapolis specialist, was called into consultation. On examining the patient he did not give out any hope of recovery. It is believed that grief over the death of her sister, Mrs. Cora Aiken, hastened her death. The funeral was held at the congregational church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, Revs. L. V. Slocumb and J. E. Norvell conducting the services. The church was unable to hold the large concourse of friends who came to pay their last respects, and the Daughters of Rebekah and Roy Neighbors, of which lodges she was a member, attended in a body. The burial took place in the Ashton Cemetery. Nellie J. Swain was born at Chaseburg, Vernon county, Wis., Sept. 30 1864 where she spent the early part of her life. In 1884 she came to Ashton with her parents, and has made her home here ever since. On Dec. 8, 1892, she was married to A.D. Mouton, and two sons, Paul and Harry, were born to them. Mr. Moulton died Oct. 1, 1898. She died at Ashton at the age of 42. She is survived by her two sons, Paul and Harry Moulton, one brother, Jos. Swain, of Des Moines, Wash., one sister Mrs. R. T. Lee, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Cora Baldwin. Mrs. Moulton was a lady of deserved popularity and prominence. In all her actions she was guided by a keen sense of duty. In her home life she was tender and affectionate and to the world, she was gentle and gracious. To the bereaved family the whole community extends its heartfelt sympathy.
