Fairchild, Vermillion, Kansas passed away Thursday, January 7, 1988 in a Marysville, Kansas nursing home She was seventy-five years old. Nellie was born February 10, 1912 in Irving, Kansas, the daughter of John and Martha (Alkire) Hidy. She attended Barrett and Frankfort schools. She was baptized in the Barrett Methodist Church and attended the Vermillion United Methodist Church. On July 7, 1932 Nellie was married to Dick Fairchild. The farmed in the Barrett Community until 1953 when they moved to Vermillion, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick, on May 31, 1962; a step-daughter, Helen Paden in 1986 and a step-son, Bill Fairchild, in 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lois Isaman, Vermillion, Kansas and Mrs. Irene Joyce, Marysville, Kansas; six sons Kenneth Fairchild, Richmond, Missouri, Robert Fairchild, Vermillion, Kansas, Johnnie Fairchild, Grove, Kansas, Larry Fairchild, Overbrook, Kansas, Ronnie Fairchild, Hasting, Nebraska and Jim Fairchild, Alma, Kansas; a step-daughter, Mrs. Mildred Pierson, Junction City, Kansas; three step-sons, Lyle Fairchild, Oliver Fairchild and Wayne Fairchild, all of Frankfort, Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Welch, Blue Rapids, Kansas; a brother Roy Collins, Festus, Missouri; two half-sisters, Mrs. Ortha Tate, Fairview, Kansas and Mrs. Lillian Hicks, Hiawatha, Kansas; a half-brother, Claude Rochek, Washington, Kansas; twenty-one grand- children; fifteen step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. Reverend Dave Tuttle officiated at the Funeral services held Saturday, January 9, 1988 at 2:00 p.m. in Padden Chapel in Frankfort, Kansas. Vocalist Daisy Scholber and Maxine Bramhall sang "In the Garden" and "No Night There" accompanied by organist Evaline Rinehart. Pallbearers were Tony Joyce, Michael Isaman, Richard Vernon, Anthony Pierson, Richard Fairchild and Kevin Fairchild. Burial was in Vermillion Cemetery, Vermillion, Kansas.
