Description	:	Nellie Marie Dieleman was born Jan. 7, 1893, near Prairie View, Ks., and on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 1973, she went home to be with the Savior whom she had served faithfully for many years. She grew to womanhood on her father's farm, and taught in elementary schools for several years, also teaching Sunday School in the Reformed Church where she was a member. Read More	Nellie Marie Dieleman was born Jan. 7, 1893, near Prairie View, Ks., and on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 1973, she went home to be with the Savior whom she had served faithfully for many years. She grew to womanhood on her father's farm, and taught in elementary schools for several years, also teaching Sunday School in the Reformed Church where she was a member. On June 6, 1917 she was united in marriage to Garrett H. Navis. Their first home was Kansas City, Ks., where Garrett was employed by the railway mail service. A son, William Ivan, was born while they lived here. About two years later they moved to Long Island, Ks., where Garrett had accepted a job as manager of the Farmers Co-op Store. A daughter, Mary Lucille, was born here where their church membership was transferred to the Methodist Church. Their next home was in Byron, Nebr., where Garrett went into business for himself, owning and operating a grocery store with Nellie's help. There were many years of hard work, but they served their church faithfully and made new friends helping the community in many ways. In 1937 Garrett bought a grocery store in Chester, where the family moved to be nearer to a high school, continuing to operate the Byron store also for several years with Garrett's brother, John, managing this store. In Chester they united with the Methodist Church where Nellie served in many places, teaching Sunday school, working in her her Circle, and often singing in the choir, until failing health made it impossible. She was able to attend church quite regularly until her last illness came on November 6. Her life was centered around her family and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Her zest for living and cheerful nature were loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her husband, Garrett; son, William, and wife, Eleanor, of Chester; daughter, Mary, and husband, Everett Hill, of Longmont, Colo.; a brother, Henry Dieleman of Shoshoni, Wyo.; six grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 25, at the United Methodist Church in Chester, conducted by Revs. Norman and Opal Crounse. Singers were Mrs. Jack Long and Mrs. Maurice Mitchell with Mrs. Dolan Frye organist. Casket bearers were Carl Hoffmeyer, H.G. Crouse, Adrian Dake, Ray Roland, Dolan Frye, W.W. Williams. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
