Born June 12, 1922, in Kifer, MD, Mrs. Rader was the daughter of the late Claude Russell Crabtree and Carrie Pauline (Alderton) Crabtree. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years: Melvin Theodore Rader, December 2014, whom were married December 1943; her brothers: Edward, Russell, Walter, and James Crabtree; and her sisters: Pauline Nixon-Fox, Rose Lewis, Helen Walters, Beulah Davis, and Wilma Crabtree. Born June 12, 1922, in Kifer, MD, Mrs. Rader was the daughter of the late Claude Russell Crabtree and Carrie Pauline (Alderton) Crabtree. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years: Melvin Theodore Rader, December 2014, whom were married December 1943; her brothers: Edward, Russell, Walter, and James Crabtree; and her sisters: Pauline Nixon-Fox, Rose Lewis, Helen Walters, Beulah Davis, and Wilma Crabtree. A graduate of Oldtown High School, Class of 1941, Nellie was a member of the United States Army Women’s Corps. She was formerly employed at the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America and was a school bus contractor/driver for the Allegany County Board of Education having driven for over 35 years ending in 2008. She was a member of the Oldtown United Methodist Church and a foster mother to many, having helped raise over 27 children. Nellie is survived by her sister: Thelma Allen and husband, Jerald; her niece: Deanna McGlade and husband, Rick; and her nephew: Matthew Crabtree and wife, Natale. She also leaves behind her foster son: James Booth and wife, Brenda; and her foster grandson: Larry Booth; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, February 4, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, February 5, 2021, at 1:00 P.M., with Reverend Charles Riggleman officiating. Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery.
