NELLIE BRODRICK Nellie Renie, daughter of Margaret and Wm. K. Renie, was born Aug. 31, 1873, on her parents' homestead near Fairfield, Nebr. She received her education in the local public schools and the Fairfield College. Early in life she became a member of the Congregational Church and always remained a loyal member, although her Christianity was of the type that led her to work in other churches when occasion arose. On April 14, 1897, she was united in marriage with Arthur W. Brodrick at Burlington, Colo. For five years, they lived on a homestead near there and experienced the joys and hardships of building a home in a newly settled community. In the spring of 1902 they returned to the vicinity of Fairfield and made their home south of that town. Her husband passed away December 6, 1929. Surviving are her two children, Russell B. and Margaret Ann. Besides her children, Mrs. Brodrick leaves her two sisters, Mrs. Anna Bayley and Mrs. Margaret Calkins and two brothers, R. D. Renie and T. L. Renie; one grandson, Francis Arthur Brodrick; and many nephews, nieces and friends to mourn her departure. Mrs. Brodrick was a great home lover and was always working for the better things for her family, her church, her club and her community. During all her life one of her beautiful characteristics was to pray without ceasing, and this has been especially true all during her last illness, which she had borne with profound patience. She passed quietly into the Great Beyond at the Superior Hospital, Superior, Nebr., March 8, 1946. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Rev. Hart officiating.
