Description	:	Nellie Cummings, 80, of Charleston, Illinois, formerly a longtime resident of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at 6:00 a.m. At her daughter's home in Charleston. She was born on May 8, 1920 in Basco, Illinois, the daughter of Harry Givens and Lilly Ellen Crum Summers. On September 7, 1940 she married Maurice S. Cummings in Albany, Missouri. Read More	Nellie Cummings, 80, of Charleston, Illinois, formerly a longtime resident of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2000 at 6:00 a.m. At her daughter's home in Charleston. She was born on May 8, 1920 in Basco, Illinois, the daughter of Harry Givens and Lilly Ellen Crum Summers. On September 7, 1940 she married Maurice S. Cummings in Albany, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1983. She graduated from schools in Basco and Augusta, Illinois. She and her husband had farmed in the Basco, Illinois area from 1955 to 1983. She was a longtime member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Basco United Methodist Church. She was a member of Hamilton V.F.W. Post #5256 Auxiliary. She also volunteered with Retired Senior Volunteer Program and was a member of Hamilton Senior Citizens. She was also a dedicated blood donor for the American Red Cross. Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Coultas of Charleston, Illinois and Cara Finton of Warsaw, Illinois; three sons, Maurice S. Cummings of Bonaparte, Robert Cummings of Basco, Illinois and Jim Cummings of Robinson, Illinois; three brothers, Clarence Summers of Bandon, Oregon, Melvin Summers and Harry Summers both of Quincy, Illinois; five sisters, Nina Johnston of Pasadena, California, Opal Dodds of Rushville, Illinois; Vera Zigler of Benson, Arizona, Patty York and Peggy Andrews both of Quincy, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dorothy Holmes and Joline Summers; and one granddaughter, Laura Diane Cummings (Find a Grave 139396335). Services were held Saturday, December 2 at Lamporte Funeral Home of Hamilton with Reverend Mark Horn and Reverend Paul Smith officiating. Burial was in Bonaparte Cemetery, Bonaparte.
