The son of Nels and Mina Higdon Nelson, he was born July 22, 1900, in Ottumwa. He married Sarah Overturf June 16, 1943. A life-long resident of Wapello County, he had worked for the Morrell firm 33 years, most of that time in the smoked meat department. Survivors include his wife, Sarah; two daughters, a stepddaughter (Living persons - names withheld for privacy); and two brothers, Henry and Hugh Nelson, both of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, John Wallace Nelson. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Walter Swenson, pastor of Wildwood Evangelical Free church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lester Morrell, John Crimmins, J.W. Dunning, Lloyd Smith, Clint Dixon and Ed Steele.
