He was a former Knox County resident. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton with the Rev. Kenneth Jacobson of Plainview officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers, grandsons, were Bruce, Bernard and Jerry Jorgensen, Curtis and Randy Nelson and Frederik Jensen. Nels Peter Nygaard was born April 17, 1886 in Ringstad, Ia. to Peter and Frederikke Nygaard. He was baptized the same year. In 1894 the family moved to a farm in the Creighton vicinity. Mr. Nygaard was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, Plainview. He attended the Bazile Mills school. He was united in marriage to Carrie Jensen on Aug. 19, 1914 at Bethany Lutheran Church. They made their home near Winnetoon and Royal until 1940 and were members of Bethesda Lutheran Church at Winnetoon. In 1940 they moved to a farm near Blair, returning to Creighton in 1954 where they lived in semi-retirement. In the fall of 1967 they became residents of the Good Shepherd home in Blair. Surviving are his widow, two sons, the Rev. Marvin Nygaard of Huxley, Ia. and the Rev. Gerhard Nygaard of Northfield, Minn.; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Vera) Nelson and Mrs. Carl (Alta) Jorgensen of Creighton, Mrs. Dale (Wilma) Hill of Milton, Pa. and Mrs. Fred (Janice) Jensen of Evan, Minn.; 21 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one brother, Andrew of the Good Shepherd home.
