Description	:	Niels Philip Bernhard Peterson was born March 8, 1889 on a farm east of Leland, Winnebago county, Iowa. He was the second son of Ole and Bridt Peterson. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. J. M. Dahl of Winnebago Lutheran church. He received his parochial training and was confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran church, Leland, by the Rev. Read More	Niels Philip Bernhard Peterson was born March 8, 1889 on a farm east of Leland, Winnebago county, Iowa. He was the second son of Ole and Bridt Peterson. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. J. M. Dahl of Winnebago Lutheran church. He received his parochial training and was confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran church, Leland, by the Rev. William Williams. He grew to man hood and lived his entire life in this community. On April 30, 1914, he was united in marriage to Ella C. Carlson of Leland by the Rev. Joh. Granskou. I From the time of this marriage until his passing Mr. Peterson operated and lived on his farm southwest of Leland. For the past nine years he has worked in the Triple A offices in Tho·mpson, and served as county chairman since December 1945. He was recignized for the very efficient and thorough manner in which he conducted the affairs of this office. He was a1ways sincerely interested in the welfare of his community and his fellowman. He was a friend of all who knew him and found much joy in helping his friends and neighbors. At the time of his death he was a member of the Board of Education of the Leland Public Schools and was also a member of the Board of the farmers Cooperative Elevator at Leland. Death came suddenly about 10 o'dock on Wednesday morning, February 20, 1946 at his office in Thompson as a result of a heart attack. At the time of his passing he was 56 years, 11 months and 12 days. He is survived by his wife, Ella; his father, Ole M. Peterson; three brothers, Alfred, Eddie and Oscar all of Leland and three sisters, Mabelle, Mrs. Edgar Salveson, of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Ruth, Mrs. C. C. Peckham, of Carmel, Calif.; and Anna, Mrs. A. J. Erickson, of Thompson. He was preceded in deaith by his mother; one sister, Louise and an infant brother, Oscar Benjamin. Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 24, 1946 at 2 o'clock from the Philip Peterson home and at 2:30 from Our Savio;r's Lutheran church with the pastor, the Rev. Arthur Feroe officiating. Special Music at the church included a solo "I've Done My Work" sung by Margaret Thompson and the hymn, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," sung by a mixed quartet consisting of Henrietta Carlson, Margaret Thompson, Irving Ambroson and Reuben Car1son, accompanded by Betty Anne Branstad. The pa11 bearers were: Clarence B. Helgren, Frank Helvick, Archie Anderson, Jens E Jensen, Helmer D. Bran-stad and Arnold Ambroson. Interment was made at Forest Home cemetery, Le1and. Memorials given in Mr. Peterson's memory amounted to $211.
