Description	:	Nels Simons passed away at his home in Albion Saturday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Congregational church with Rev. Jas. McKeeman, pastor, officiating. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. Nelson Peter Simons, son of Simon Marthias Pederson, was born in Sylstrup, Denmark, December 6, 1859, and departed this life January 27, 1940, at the age of 80 years, one month and 21 days. Nelson Peter Simons, son of Simon Marthias Pederson, was born in Sylstrup, Denmark, December 6, 1859, and departed this life January 27, 1940, at the age of 80 years, one month and 21 days. Mr. Simons was confirmed in the Sylstrup church the first Sunday after Easter in 1875. His parents dying while he was very young caused him to embark on his own dependence at an early age. Having heard of the opportunities for a young man in this country, he sailed for America, coming directly to Boone county, Nebraska, in 1882. For a few years he worked on a farm, later becoming one of Albion’s leading decorating contractors. On July 3, 1890, he was married to Miss Tessie Moresch and to this union seven children were born, five sons and two daughters. Mrs. Simons passed away February 1, 1935. In 1909 Mr. Simons purchased a farm one mile west of Albion and in 1910 he moved his family to the farm where they operated a dairy until about a month ago. Mr. Simons became a member of the First Congregational church of Albion on May 6, 1887. While attending church services March 7, 1937, he suffered a paralytic stroke and has been helpless since that time. He was devoted to the Bible and never neglected to read it during his illness. Since his conversion he made a practice of reading the Bible through each year and as a result was well posted on it. He leaves to mourn his passing his five sons and two daughters, thirty grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one brother, James Simonson of Long Beach, California; a number of nieces and nephews. Two sisters preceded him to the great beyond. Out of town relatives here to attend the funeral services were: C. W. Miller of Alliance; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Simons and family of Newport; Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Simons and baby of Grand Island; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Simons of Columbus; Mrs. Richard Renken of Omaha, Harvey Simons of Omaha, Mrs. Frank Moresch and son of Belgrade, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kelley of Rising City, Mr. and Mrs. John Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Moresch of Spalding and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miller and family of Spalding.
