Born and reared on Gwynn's Island, which is located in Matthews County, Va., she was the daughter of John Robert and Ellen (Willie Elenora) Grimstead Adams. On the day after Christmas in 1925 Miss Adams married George Bertran Bell, the son of Myrtie Dell Jett and Cassie Jonathan Bell. Born and reared on Gwynn's Island, which is located in Matthews County, Va., she was the daughter of John Robert and Ellen (Willie Elenora) Grimstead Adams. On the day after Christmas in 1925 Miss Adams married George Bertran Bell, the son of Myrtie Dell Jett and Cassie Jonathan Bell. Mrs. Bell graduated from nursing school at Norfolk Protestant Hospital, now known as Sentara Norfolk General Hospital that same year. After graduation she specialized in private duty nursing. Mrs. Bell was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church for more than 35 years and president of the Women's Missionary Union. Active in church activities and bible study groups, prayer and visitation of church members and friends was very important in her life. She was a former member of First Baptist Church Norfolk, where she held many offices. For more than 50 years she held membership in the Virginia Chapter No. 22 Order of the Eastern Star of Virginia. An avid gardener who loved her summer home on Gwynn's Island, Mrs. Bell took great pleasure in the flowers and vegetables that she so lovingly raised. The widow of George Bertran Bell, Mrs. Bell is survived by her daughter, Darlene Bell Waters and son-in-law, Marshall Eugene Waters; her twin granddaughters, Sarah Talley Waters and Ellen Waters Boyd, Ellen's husband, Charles H. Boyd III; her great-granddaughter, Catherine E. Boyd; and her niece, Kathleen Sheward McCoy of Newcastle, Ind.. Visitation will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The funeral will be held at Freemason Street Baptist Church Monday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Donald Dunlap officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freemason Street Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Gwynn's Island Cemetery, Matthews County , Va..
