Nettie Florence Calder, one of nine children of John W. and Rebecca Morgan, was born Oct. 7, 1876, in Washington Township of Greene County. She died at her home in Churdan Nov. 22, at the age of 82 years, one month and 15 days. Jan. 13, 1897, she was united in marriage with William R. Calder at Scranton. To this union was born five children. They lived on farms in the Scranton and Coon Rapids communities until 1918, when they moved to a farm near Churdan. After the death of her husband in 1936, Mrs Calder came to Churdan, where she resided until her death. She was a member of the Bethuel Rebekah Lodge No. 83 and a former member of the WRC. Preceding her in death were her husband; one daughter, Gretta, who died at the age of eight years; one sister, Mrs Nellie Robinson; one brother, N.J. Morgan and her parents. Survivors include her four children: Mrs Wilbur (Elsie) Clipperton of Bayard, Mrs Ward (Flossie) Mount of Scranton, Mrs Al (Audrey) Graulinger of Churdan and Lester Calder of Callender; six brothers and sisters: William L. of Des Moines, John H. of Adair, Louie B. of Redfield, Ruth Johnston and Maggie Stevens, both of Scranton and Flossie Walter of Glidden; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
