Guthart Mrs. Edward Guthart died suddenly at her home north of Bassett on Saturday evening May 9. Her death was attributed to an acute heart attack. Nettie Mary Larrabee was born July 20, 1889 on a farm north of Basset, the fourth child of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Larrabee. Here she grew to young womanhood. She was baptized in infancy at the St. Cecelia Church near Alma in the catholic faith, for which she was a faithful member all her life. She was united in marriage to Edward Guthart of Charles city, April 22, 1914, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia by the Rev. Father Pitz. The established their home in Charles City until 1917 when they moved to their farm 11 miles north of Bassett. Four children were born to this union; Mrs. Madonna Venz of Charles City, Harland and Garland at home, and Edna who passed away in infancy. She is sadly missed by her husband, her children and grandchildren, Ronald and Carolyn Venz and Edna and John Guthart, who she loved very dearly; her sisters and brother, Mrs. Celia Kilby of Bassett, Mrs. Martha Laylin of Pembine, Wisconsin, Mrs. Esther Mallory of Menhaga, Minnesota, and Raymond Larrabee, also of Pembine, Wisconsin. She is also missed by her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter Edna; two brothers, Walter and Ernest, and her parents. Funeral services were held at 9:30 Tuesday May 12, at the St. Boniface Church in Ionia, with Rev. Father Stern conducting the services. Burial was in the Parish Cemetery. Casket bearers were Alfred and Jerome Roethler, Raymond Pickert, Frank Marion, Dewy Ashley, and Joe Batles.
