Description	:	Neva Ruth Johansen, 94, of Heartwell died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings. Services were held Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Minden with Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. Mrs. Johansen was born Jan. 3, 1913, on a farm northeast of Heartwell to H.A. and Maude (Doyle) Podewitz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and a son, Dan. Read More	Neva Ruth Johansen, 94, of Heartwell died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Good Samaritan Village in Hastings. Services were held Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Minden with Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. Mrs. Johansen was born Jan. 3, 1913, on a farm northeast of Heartwell to H.A. and Maude (Doyle) Podewitz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and a son, Dan. Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, Eldon and Judy Johansen of Wilsonville, Ore., Russ Johansen of Dannebrog, Phil and Kim Johansen of Kenesaw and Connie Johansen of Ord; one daughter and son-in-law, Marlys and Dennis Parr of Lubbock, Texas; and one sister, Helen Peterson of Simi, Calif. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Neva attended a rural school near Heartwell and later graduated from Heartwell High School as valedictorian of her class in 1930. She attended Kearney Normal and then taught school in the Norman-Heartwell area. On Sept. 12, 1937, she was united in marriage to Ralph L. Johansen in Minden. They were blessed with five children, Eldon, Marlys, Russell, Daniel and Philip. Ralph and Neva lived their entire married life in the Heartwell area and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987. Ralph passed away in 1988. Neva belonged to and held offices in the Heartwell WSCS and the United Methodist Women, and the Triple H Club. She also was a member of the Kearney County Historical Society, the Minden Women's Club and United Methodist Church in Minden. She was a 4-H leader and co-chairman of the first Heartwell School reunion and also helped write "Heartwell, the First 100 Years." Neva enjoyed reading and doing needlepoint. She was a stable, caring influence in the lives of her family. She moved to Hastings in February 2001. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Marcia Johansen; great-granddaughter, Alexa Nichols; and four sisters, Ione, Maxine, Mary Jane and Joan.
