Description	:	Willa "Maxine" (Podewitz) Duncan, 79, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at the Bethany Home in Minden. Services were held Monday at the United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. Mrs. Duncan was born July 31, 1920, to Henry and Maude (Doyle) Podewitz in Heartwell. She grew up in the Heartwell area and graduated from Minden High School. Dr. Bill Hunter officiating. Mrs. Duncan was born July 31, 1920, to Henry and Maude (Doyle) Podewitz in Heartwell. She grew up in the Heartwell area and graduated from Minden High School. On Dec. 30, 1939, she married Eldon Duncan in Minden. They farmed in Franklin County until 1957 and then moved into Minden. She worked as a cook at the Kearney County Community Hospital in Minden for several years. In 1980 her husband died. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors are three sons, Vernon and Patrick, both of Franklin, and William of Minden; one daughter, Debra Twehous of Montrose, Colo.; three sisters, Joan Moore of Minden, Neva Johansen of Heartwell and Helen Petersen of California; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Douglas, and two sisters.
