She was born May 20, 1900, in rural Wapello County to Richard and Clara Dougan Jenkins. She married Clifford L. Savage on Dec. 23, 1923, in Frederic; he died in 1979. She was born May 20, 1900, in rural Wapello County to Richard and Clara Dougan Jenkins. She married Clifford L. Savage on Dec. 23, 1923, in Frederic; he died in 1979. She taught school in Buxton and at Irvin School in Ottumwa. During World War II, she worked at the U.S. Post Office and was a Red Cross nurse’s aid. She had also worked in the Ottumwa High School cafeteria. She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Johnson and Genevieve Davis of Seattle, Wash., Connie Hillman of Tacoma, Wash., and Barbara White of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and four grandchildren. The service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, the Rev. William C. Flewelling of Davis Street Christian Church. Burial of cremains will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
