Noah G Wheeler was born in Baltimore County Maryland September 19, 1864 and passed away at his late home in Brooklyn Iowa November 23, 1933 after an illness of several weeks duration. Mr Wheeler was well known as night marshall of Brooklyn and had many friends in the community who mourn his departure. Noah G Wheeler was born in Baltimore County Maryland September 19, 1864 and passed away at his late home in Brooklyn Iowa November 23, 1933 after an illness of several weeks duration. When but a mere child he came with his parents to Iowa and settled on a farm 4 miles southwest of Victor where he grew to manhood and received his education in the rural schools of that vicinity. On December 9, 1891 he was married to Miss Rachel Hyter of Victor Iowa. This union was blest with one daughter Mrs Roy Talbot of Brooklyn. There are 8 grand children and no one ever thought more of grand children than Mr Wheeler. In fact he loved little children as he did his own life. His greatest delight was to mingle with the children and the children had the very highest esteem for him. When a young man he united with the Methodist Episcopal church known as Sunset church on the Victor charge and remained a member as long as he lived. The writer visited him a number of times in his last illness and he deeply appreciated prayer and his faith in a great and good God did not waver. He said one day in our presence "I was first of all a Christion." A short time before he went away he said to his dear ones "Everything is all right with me" and his last words were these "All is clear." More than 25 years ago he joined the IOOF lodge #192 at Victor and remained a loyal member of the same until his death. For 9 years Mr Wheeler was night marshall in this city and very faithfully attended to his work in all kinds of weather having missed only four nights in all these years. Wheeler lived in and near Brooklyn where they are held in the very highest esteem by scores of people who will miss this friend and brother who helped make the community better. Besides his faithful wife and daughter and grandchildren he leaves to mourn his departure 4 sisters and 3 brothers as follows: Mrs Charles Howard Billing MT; Mrs Frank Pratt Austin TX; Mrs Frank Roberts and Mrs Jay Manatt of Brooklyn; Elmer Wheeler Pond Creek OK; Dave Wheeler Dallas IA and Allen Wheeler New Sharon IA. Funeral services at the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church Sunday at 2 O'clock were conducted by Rev J H Freedline assisted by Rev Holler. The IOOF lodges of Brooklyn and Victor had charge of the burial service. Those from out of town attending the funeral of N G Wheeler were Mrs Frank M Pratt of Austin TX; David P Wheeler of Dallas, IA; Mr & Mrs George Hyter of Moberly MO; Harry Hyter & family Burlington IA; Mrs Mabel Snyder, Mrs Hazel Parker, Harry Parker and Mr & Mrs Miles Carlsen and baby, Mr & Mrs Harry Coatney and family all of Des Moines: Mrs F G Boland, David Lewis & John Lewis of Williamsburg IA; Mr & Mrs Willard Phillips, Mr & Mrs Latcham and Mrs Gorsuch of Montezuma IA; Mr & Mrs Allen T Wheeler, Mr & Mrs Sam Wheeler and Mrs Donald Wheeler all of New Sharon IA; Mrs Warren Wheeler of Belle Plaine IA.
