Funeral Services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of John Sturtz, near the home farm in Highland township. The services were conducted by the Rev. H. L. Wissler, pastor of the Chester Center Congregational church. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery at Montour. Music at the services was furnished by Mrs. C.J. Holden, Mrs. A.D. Paxton, O.L. Millard and N.P. Cronk. They sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The City Four Square". Mrs. Millard played the accompaniments. Casket bearers were Will Ingram, S.H. Ferneau, A.M. Merritt, Frank Lacina, Murry Moffett and Joe Paul. Noah Sturtz was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, August 26, 1844 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dora Parmenter, June 21, 1931, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 21 days. He spent his early manhood on the home farm and was married to Eliza Baker, January 24, 1869. In 1878 he came with his family to Highland township, Tama county, where he has since made his home. The surviving children are Mrs. Laura Dunbar of Gladbrook, John of Highland township, Frank of Montour, Charles of Kansas City, Missouri, Miss Myra Sturtz of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Dora Parmenter, of Gilman; Fred of Laurel and Ira of Buckingham, Alabama. Mrs. Sturtz died December 12, 1921 and a son Clarence, died May 12, 1899. Mr. Sturtz became a member of the German Reformed Church at an early age and continued in that faith. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Jake Dunbar of Gladbrook, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sturtz of Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sturtz of Laurel, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Vauthrin of Melbourne, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sturtz and Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Emmitt of Sterling, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. John Lynch of Gladbrook and Mrs. Alice Baughman of Dixon, Illinois.
