After the Civil War, many records were destroyed and land torn apart in many area. I don’t know if there would be any likelihood of ever finding the cemetery. Presumably they are in the same cemetery – wherever that may be. We may never really know." If and when their graves are determined by cemetery documentation and/or headstones, then the proper course of action would be to change the cemetery/burial status accordingly. If another contributor makes new memorials that are credible with that information, those new memorials in a 'correct' cemetery would take priority. In the meantime, because these memorials are designated as burial unknowns, direct relationship links from this memorial to these parents are not being made. //rkt May 9, 2016 -------- Fairfield Tribune Wednesday Feb. 20, 1895 Death of Noah WRIGHT, a pioneer. Noah WRIGHT, living in the south part of town, died very suddenly at his home last Monday night. About nine o'clock in the evening he retired, but complained of not feeling well. He rapidly grew worse and in about fifteen minutes he died. The funeral was held at the home this morning at half past nine o'clock, Rev. G.W. Mapes officiating. The remains were taken to the Wright grave yard in Cedar township; where the religious exercises at the grave were conducted by Mr. G. B. Phillips. Mr. WRIGHT was one of the first three settlers in Jefferson County. He was born in Kentucky, Oct. 19, 1812. About the year 1834 or 1835 he removed to Illinois and came to Iowa in 1836, living for many years in Cedar township. Afterwards he went to Washington county, where he lived many years, and about twelve years ago removed to Fairfield. He was married in Kentucky to Miss Sarah VANCE, who died some twelve years ago, and after coming to Fairfield he was married to Mrs. BEAN, who survives him. Mr. WRIGHT leaves three sons and one daughter. He was eighty-two years, three months and twenty-nine days old. ------ Note: the obituary stated for the age that Noah was "... twenty-nine days ....". The headstone appears to use the number 23, however. Perhaps the engraver mistook the written 29 to be 23? ------ Noah's brother, Jacob Wright , is also buried in Wright cemetery and his headstone can be seen in the photo for Noah as well. Jacob has an entry in this cemetery listing by another contributor. ------ Married Sarah Vance in 1835. Married second time to Esther Ann Vannatta Bean on May. 10, 1887 in Jefferson County, Iowa. ------ Known children of Noah Wright: Isaac Newton, Mary, Jasper, Mahala, Nancy, Malissa/Melissa, Samuel S, Bazzel, Frank. The obituary for Mary Harbour indicated that there was another child (a daughter) born and presumably died between the birth of Isaac and Mary. ------- One of Noah and Jacob Wright's other known siblings is Basil Wright
