(Saunders) Rhoades, 78, of Waterloo died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Arbor Manor in Fremont. She was born Nov. 16, 1930, in Elkhorn to Loren and Winifred (Osborn) Saunders. She grew up south of Waterloo and in South Omaha. She attended grade school at 3J country school and Omaha grade school and graduated from Omaha South High School in 1948. She married Don Rhoades in Omaha. She moved to Waterloo where she had continued to live all these years. She had worked at the IGA in Waterloo, Waterloo Post Office and El Bee's restaurant. She was a member of the Waterloo Fire Auxiliary, Waterloo United Methodist Church, was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Waterloo PTO. Survivors include: three sons, Mickey, Charlie and James of Fremont; a brother, Lee; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn with the Rev. Cheryl Paden officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
