Born on Christmas day in 1942 in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Layton and Glenna Fetters Lipps. Nola enjoyed her family and taking care of her three children as they grew up. Vlock Tuesday, February 2, 2016 JEFFERSON — Nola Marie Lipps Vlock, age 73, of Jefferson, Ohio, wife of Larry Vlock, was released from her battle with Alzheimers on Sunday, Jan. 31,2016. Born on Christmas day in 1942 in Ashtabula, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Layton and Glenna Fetters Lipps. Nola enjoyed her family and taking care of her three children as they grew up. Nola was an active leader of Girl Scouts, 4-H, Jefferson Area Music Boosters,Wonderful Wednesday church activities, and volunteered for the Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival for many years. She was also a member of the Sheffield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and helped with many fire department functions. Many will remember her caring for their infants when she worked at Play and Learn Day Care Center. Several years ago, she and Larry began showing draft horses and formed L & N Belgians. She loved to take the horses to the local fairs, and what wonderful friends they made along the way. Nola was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband of 53 years are children, Annette (Homer) Elwood of Laurens, S.C., Darla (Bill) Painter of Jefferson, Ohio, and Scott (Monica) Vlock of Union, S.C.; grandchildren, Zachary (fiancée, Sarah Hughes) Elwood and Hunter Elwood, Courtney Painter (Kiley) Smith, Aaron Painter, Abigail, Graham, and Anna Claire Vlock; and a great-grandson, Keaton Ray Smith. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Lonny Layton Vlock; and her three brothers, Leroy Lipps, Lee Robert Lipps and Leslie Lipps. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4th, at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio, with burial to follow at Hayes Cemetery, Wayne Township. He was born on August 16, 1941, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Glenna Doris (Fetters) and Layton Howard Lipps. Mr. Lipps was a 1959 graduate of Williamsfield High School. He was a lifelong resident of the Wayne and Williamsfield area. Mr. Lipps worked for the former Andover Industries, Rockwell Brake and Rome Feed, all while running his own dairy farm. On August 30, 1959, he married Janet L. Smith, she died on April 8, 1996. Mr. Lipps married Sabra E. (Wood) DeAngelo on June 18, 1999. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Andover, Triandra Masonic Lodge F & AM No. 780 and the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club. He loved farming, his tractors, playing the piano and his faithful dog “Katie”. Mr. Lipps was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Janet L. Lipps; and an infant daughter, Aimee Vanessa Lipps. Survivors include his wife of thirteen years, Sabra E. Lipps of Ashtabula; his daughter, Lisa L. Fleming of Williamsfield; a son, Mark A. (Nicole) Lipps of Louisville, Ohio; a step-son, Harold A. (Debra) DeAngelo of Ashtabula; a sister, Nola (Larry) Vlock of Jefferson; two brothers, L. Robert (Christine) Lipps of Williamsfield and Lesley (Beverly) Lipps of Ashtabula; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren with two additional on the way. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in Wayne, and was an active member of Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Bob was an avid outdoorsman; and enjoyed his draft horses and his dog, “Duke.” He is survived by his wife, Christine M. Lipps Star Beacon KINGSVILLE — Leslie H. Lipps, age 61, of Ashtabula, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 7, 1952, in Ashtabula, the son of the late Layton and Glenna (Fetters) Lipps. Leslie grew up in Williamsfield, but resided in Ashtabula for 41 years. He graduated from Pymatuning Valley High School Class of 1970 and then attended Ohio Northern College. He married the love of his life and soul mate Beverly Jones, on May 19, 1973, in Whitehall, Ohio. Leslie was an active member of the Fellowship Bible Church while it was in service and later became part of the family at the Pentecostal Church of God. One of his most favorite things were cars, which led him into owning and running L&B Auto Sales for many years. Leslie was a very active and social person. He loved everyone, and thought everybody was good; no one was a stranger to him. His contagious laughter and smile will be missed by all who knew him. But most of all he adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 41 years, Beverly; daughters, LaShawna Guijosa and Larissa Farrar of Ashtabula; son, Luke Lipps of Ashtabula; sister, Nola (Larry) Vlock of Jefferson; and grandchildren, Cristian, Analicia, and Edward “Lil Eddie”, and one on the way. Leslie was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee “Bob” Lipps and Leroy Lipps; his parents; and his faithful companion, his dog “Penny.” A Celebration of Life will be held 7 p.m., Thursday, May 15th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, pastor of Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until the time of Service.
