Read More	Death Summons Mrs. Nora Cross End Comes Sunday Night at 10:20 Following a Week's Illness, Had Lived in This City and Community Sixty-Two Years Mrs. Nora Cross, one of the pioneer residents of Creighton and community died at her home on Sunday night at 10:20. Death was attributed to hardening of the arteries, following a week's illness. Nora Reed Cross was born in Tippecanoe county, Indiana on August 26, 1855 and departed this life at Creighton on July 27, 1941 at the age of 85 years, 11 months and one day. She moved with her parents to Wisconsin when three years of age. On September 13, 1874, she was married to Benjamin S. Cross. To this union five children were born, three daughters and two sons. Edith Elma preceded her in death in 1877 and Herbert in March 1939. The living children are James and Myrtle at home and Mrs. D.D. Wiseman of Orchard. The family moved from Wisconsin to Minnesota for a short time and then came to Knox county in 1879, where they homesteaded on a farm southeast of Creighton. She lived there and in town for the past sixty-two years. Her husband died on December 28, 1921. As an early pioneer of this community, Mrs. Cross experienced all of the hardships and discouragement of the early pioneer life. Her kindly character and friendliness were characteristic and those commendatory traits will live long in the memory of her friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the Federated church with the pastor, Rev. George Anderson officiating. Many gathered to pay tribute to this esteemed woman. The array of splendor in floral offerings by friends reflected evidence of esteem for the deceased. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were A.L. Smith, Will Burt, Chas. Saunders, Jake Horn, Ed Meikle and Frank Carder. Besides the two daughters and son, Mrs. Cross is survived by three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
