Description	:	Miss Nora Vermell Ward, 92, of 101 Wilson Street, Clinton, died Tuesday at Mary Gran Nursing Center, Clinton, NC. Miss Ward, born in Sampson County, near Clinton, was the daughter of Royce Ward and Pearl Carter Ward. Read More	Miss Nora Vermell Ward, 92, of 101 Wilson Street, Clinton, died Tuesday at Mary Gran Nursing Center, Clinton, NC. Miss Ward, born in Sampson County, near Clinton, was the daughter of Royce Ward and Pearl Carter Ward. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Norell(her twin), Swain, William "Billy" and Curtis Ward. She grew up in Duplin and Sampson Counties, graduated from Ingold High School in 1938 and received further education from Hardbarger Business College and Sampson County Community College. Her first employment, after farm work, was the Federal National Youth Administration, followed by a 40 year career with the US Department of Agriculture (ASCS) beginning in 1942. She received numerous recognitions and awards as a USDA employee. Upon retirement from the USDA in 1982, she was immediately employed by Sampson County and retired from the County Tax Office in 2007. She had 65 years of continuous employment. In addition to her employment, she was very active in Epworth United Methodist Church, serving over time on about every committee of the church and was the treasurer of the then Clinton Methodist Circuit (3 churches) for 51 years. She also served as President of the area's Business and Professional Women's Group and served on the board of the Clinton Crisis Center. During retirement she was an information volunteer in Sampson County Courthouse. A fully committed Christian, she dedicated her life to her family, her church, her employers and her community. Her life was a life well lived. She is survived by a brother, Wilton Ward and wife Peggy of Annandale, VA; her nieces, Connie Bass and husband Myron of Clinton, LeAnn Brant and husband Frank of Virginia Beach, VA; Gloria Hinson and husband Randy of Mooreville, Demetrice Denning and husband Joseph of Dunn, Alison Kindt and husband Michael of Raleigh; her nephews, Stephen Ward and wife Patti of Manassas, VA; and Linward Ward and wife Debbie of Clinton, NC. The family received friends 6-8pm, Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton, NC. The funeral services were held at 11am, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dalma Cribb and the Rev. Dorothy Rudd officiating. Burial was made in the Church Cemetery.
