A Mass of Christian Burial service for NORBERT "NUB" KLOEWER will be held 10-a.m. Mon., June 23rd, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan. Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements. Visitation at the funeral home is from Noon to 9-p.m. on Sunday, June 22nd, with the family greeting friends from 5-to 7-pm, and a Wake service at 7:30-p.m. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery. "Nub" Kloewer is survived by: His wife – Patricia Kloewer, of Harlan. His daughters – Kathy (Steve) Plumb, Carol (Roger) Erb, & Kristi (Dory) Nielsen, all of Harlan, & Connie (Larry) Knudson, of Omaha. His sons – Tony Kloewer, and Doug (Lora) Kloewer, all of Harlan. His sisters – Leona "Jonsey" Klein, and Betty Specht, both of Westphailia. He was baptized and confirmed in at the church in Westphalia, Iowa. Norbert attended school in Westphalia until 8th grade, after he stayed home to help farm. On May 18, 1954 Norbert was united in marriage to Patricia Cunningham in Westphalia, Iowa. They became parents to seven children: Kathy, Carol, Jerry, Connie, Tony, Doug, and Kristi. Nub farmed for 30 years then started operating the Beer Barn in Kirkman, Iowa. He owned the bar/restaurant for 22 years then retired in 2006. Since then Pat and Nub have resided in Harlan, Iowa where they have been members of St. Michael's Parish since 2007. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and liked to play cards. Nub also enjoyed being the score keeper for the town teams baseball league in Westphalia. Nub died on June 19, 2014 in Harlan, Iowa having attained the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 12 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jerry, sisters Agnes and Bernice, and brother Walter. Plumb, children: Becky , Renee and Redgie; Carolyn, children: Casie, Kristopher, Katie and Matthew; Jerry (deceased); Constance, married to Lawrence Knudson, children, Kayleen, Alan and Tricia; Tony; Douglas, married Lora L. Simmons, children: Ashley and Zachary; Mary, married to Kelly Gessert. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Hosting the celebration will be their family. Their children are Kathy and Steve Plumb, Kirkman; Carol and Roger Erb, Harlan; Connie and Larry Knudson, Omaha; Tony Kloewer, Harlan; Doug (Lora) Kloewer, Harlan; Kristi (Dory) Nielsen, Harlan; and son, Jerry Kloewer (deceased). The Kloewers have 15 grandchildren, three step~grandchildren and four great~grandchildren. The couple manages the Beer Barn in Kirkman.
