She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. She attended school in Westphalia and a short time in Council Bluffs, Iowa through the 12th grade. On May 18, 1954, Patricia was united in marriage to Norbert “Nubby” Kloewer at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. They raised their seven children: Kathy, Carol, Jerry, Connie, Tony, Doug and Kristi on the farm. After 30 years on the farm, they moved to Kirkman to start a new chapter in their lives. They started the family business at Nub & Pat’s Beer Barn, until retiring to Harlan in 2007. Pat loved gardening, sewing, crafts and always enjoyed decorating for the holidays. During retirement years, she and Nub liked going on drives, visiting their kids and grandkids, and also DQ was always a treat. She also had many rat terrier dogs and her last one Suzy which she missed dearly when she moved to Elm Crest Retirement in June of 2016. She made some dear friends there and will be missed. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan. Pat died surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, attaining the age of eighty-four years, two months, and three days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Norbert Kloewer, son Jerry Kloewer, sisters Phyllis Minear and Marilyn Ebert. She has left to cherish her memory, her children Kathy and her husband Steve Plumb of Harlan, Iowa; Carol and her husband Roger Erb of Harlan; Connie and her husband Larry Knudson of Omaha, Nebraska; Tony Kloewer and his wife Darla of Harlan; Doug Kloewer and his wife Lora of Harlan; Kristi and her husband Tim Davis of Woodbine, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends. --- from Westphalia, IA 1872~1997 book "PRESERVING OUR PAST, ENSURING OUR FUTURE": Norbert and Patricia Cunningham Kloewer were married May 18, 1954 at St. Boniface Church. He is the son of Anthony and Elizabeth Kloewer of Westphalia. Patricia's parents were John and Marie Cunningham of Council Bluffs, formerly of Westphalia. Their children are: Kathryn, married to Steven L. Plumb, children: Becky , Renee and Redgie; Carolyn, children: Casie, Kristopher, Katie and Matthew; Jerry (deceased); Constance, married to Lawrence Knudson, children, Kayleen, Alan and Tricia; Tony; Douglas, married Lora L. Simmons, children: Ashley and Zachary; Mary, married to Kelly Gessert. Norbert and Patricia farmed near Westphalia for 30 years before moving to Kirkman, Iowa, where they now manage a bar and restaurant. --- The Harlan, IA Tribune 05/06/2004 Norbert and Patricia Kloewer Celebrate their 50th anniversary. KIRKMAN ~~ Norbert and Patricia Kloewer of Kirkman will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 15 with an open house from 4~8 p.m. at the Kirkman Community Building. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Hosting the celebration will be their family. Their children are Kathy and Steve Plumb, Kirkman; Carol and Roger Erb, Harlan; Connie and Larry Knudson, Omaha; Tony Kloewer, Harlan; Doug (Lora) Kloewer, Harlan; Kristi (Dory) Nielsen, Harlan; and son, Jerry Kloewer (deceased). The Kloewers have 15 grandchildren, three step~grandchildren and four great~grandchildren. The couple manages the Beer Barn in Kirkman. Norbert Kloewer and Patricia Cunningham were married on May 18, 1954 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. The couple requests no gifts. ---
