Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Round Mountain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Jennings officiating and readings by Garrett Eller, D.L. Welch, Sara Morin and Stephanie Lloyd. Burial was in Round Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 2 until 2:45 p.m., prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Eller was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Wilkes County to John Isaac and Mary Ellen Johnson Billings. She retired from Troutman Shirt Company. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Eller was a starting guard on the Mountain View High School girls’ basketball team, winners of the Mountain Park Tournament Championship in 1939. She was a member of Round Mountain Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Floyd Eller Sr.; four sisters, Nellie Billings Roope, Nova Billings Welch, Betty Billings Reilly and Vercie Ellen Billings; and two brothers, Fred Clarence Billings and Billie Joe Billings. She is survived by one daughter, Marlene Eller Cothren and husband, Richard, of Blacksburg, Va.; one son, Rex Floyd Eller Jr. and wife, Pam, of North Wilkesboro; four grandchildren, Garrett Eller, Wesley Eller, Sara Cothren Morin and Stephanie Cothren Lloyd; and seven great-grandchildren; Logan, Briscoe, Sully, Charlotte, Tess, Mia and Chad. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, N.C. 27030.
