Services will be Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Federated Church in Sutton with Rev Eric Biehl officiating Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery. Norma was born May 28, 1925 to John F and Alma (Ocker) Rothfuss in Glenvil, NE. She attended Glenvil High School graduating with the class of 1941. Norma was born May 28, 1925 to John F and Alma (Ocker) Rothfuss in Glenvil, NE. She attended Glenvil High School graduating with the class of 1941. On May 7, 1944, she married Hollis Barnell at Junction City, KS., They lived near Fort Riley, KS until Hollis was discharged from the U S Army in 1946. They resided in Hastings until 1964, when they made their home in Sutton, NE. She was a longtime member of the Federated Church in Sutton, and a member of the Sutton Legion Auxiliary for forty-one years. She was a volunteer at the Veteran's Home and VA Hospital in Grand Island, NE and many other organizations. She loved gardening and did a lot of canning. She enjoyed her family very much especially playing bingo, board games and sewing with them. She is survived by her husband Holis Barnell of Sutton, NE; daughter Connie and husband Randy Ross of Grand Island, NE; grandchildren Tori Ross of Grand Island, NE; Michelle Valenta of Aurora, NE; Jason Smith and wife Shannon of Lincoln, NE; great-grandchidren Zachary, Justin and T J Valenta of Aurora NE; Braelyn and Kelton Smith of Lincoln, NE; brother Mike Rothfuss of Hastings, NE; sister Darlene Engelhardt of Iowal brothers-in-law Gip Barnell and wife Shirley of Aurora, NE; Dean Barnell and wife Donna of Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Cool, her parents and one brother Don Rothfuss. Clay County News Sept 23, 2009
