Description	:	Norma Jean Snavely, 79, the daughter of Charles E. and Mary Elizabeth(Singer) McGowan,was born June 9,1923 in Republic County. She died Sept. 18, at Perkins Pavilion, Hastings. She was educated in Hardy, graduating from Hardy High School. She married Leo Snavely at Mankato on Feb. 4, 1944. To this union were born three children. They lived all of their married life in and around Superior. Jean was employed at Ideal Market meat department. After retiring, she moved to Hastings. Read More	Norma Jean Snavely, 79, the daughter of Charles E. and Mary Elizabeth(Singer) McGowan,was born June 9,1923 in Republic County. She died Sept. 18, at Perkins Pavilion, Hastings. She was educated in Hardy, graduating from Hardy High School. She married Leo Snavely at Mankato on Feb. 4, 1944. To this union were born three children. They lived all of their married life in and around Superior. Jean was employed at Ideal Market meat department. After retiring, she moved to Hastings. She was a member of the Superior Eagles Auxiliary, the Firemen's Auxiliary, and a 50-year member, of the Superior Methodist Church, with involvement in the Night Circle and teaching Sunday school. While living in Hastings she was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Good Samaritan Village Auxiliary, Silver Bells, Singles Club, did volunteer work at a snack shop for 10 years and was head of the sewing room. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 7, 1971, a grandson and two sisters,Wanda Hutt and Dorothy Erkenbrack. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Richard McClenahan (Connie)and Jerry, all of Hastings and Larry, Minden; one grandchild, two great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren, one brother, Dean McGowan,and one sisier, Virginia Petersen. Services were Monday from the East United Methodist Church, Superior, with pastors Dorthea Fairbanks and Lee Wigert officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of arrangements. Superior Express, Thursday, September 26, 2002
