Description	:	Norma Jean Parli, 86, of Albion, earned her wings on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE, where she chose to be near her husband and family after hip surgery in Grand Island on October 12, 2020. Unfortunately, Covid-19 did not allow for much family time. A private family memorial service will be held Friday, October 30, 2020, at the Casey’s Building at Boone County Fairgrounds in Albion, NE. A Celebration of Norma’s Life will follow from 1-4 p.m. Friday, October 30th at the Casey’s Building. George (Dave) Parli will not be in attendance... A Celebration of Norma’s Life will follow from 1-4 p.m. Friday, October 30th at the Casey’s Building. George (Dave) Parli will not be in attendance due to COVID restrictions. Current CDC guidelines and social distancing will be practiced. Masks are recommended. Norma Jean Rave, daughter of Nate Rave and Valeria Augustine Olsufka, was born on May 15, 1934, at their home in rural Primrose. She came into the world delivered by her Uncle Doc Bartlett. Norma attended District 14 north of the farm through the 8th grade. She graduated from Primrose High School in 1951. On January 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to George (Dave) Parli in Lincoln, NE. The couple made their home in Columbus and Newman Grove, NE, before settling in Albion, NE to raise their family. Three children were born to this union: Jenice, Scott, and Gwen. Norma was a stay-at-home mother, raising her children until they were all in school. Norma worked for the Max and Hattie Wolf family. She also worked many years at Albion Floral and enjoyed her employers, Bob and Mary Jane James and Dean and Carolyn Schmid. Courtney and Tony Schmid rode shotgun on many flower deliveries with Norma in the ‘van’. She also worked several years at Azonic Products in Albion. In 1987, George retired from his position as manager of GTE and they headed South. They enjoyed traveling throughout the southwestern United States, as well as Mexico. They eventually settled in Pharr, Texas at Tropic Starr Park, where Norma worked for 28 years as the Post Office Manager for the Park. Norma enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, golf, embroidery, and baking angel food cakes for her children for their birthdays. No one has yet been able to replicate her 7-minute frosting! Norma was blessed with six grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Norma is survived by her husband, Dave, of 64 years, 9 months and 16 days; their children, Jenice (Tom) Stevenson of Albion, Scott Parli and Belinda Meysenburg of Albion, and Gwen Greger and Tim Dickey of Belgrade; six grandchildren, Justin (Michelle) Stevenson, Adam (Sara) Stevenson, Cody (Dawn) Stevenson, Tasha (Ty) Bopp, Jean (Ryan) Cornwell, and D.J. Greger; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Darleen Schumuecker of Omaha; sister and brother-in-law, Larry and Marty Viterna of Louisburg, KS; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding Norma into Heaven are her parents, Nate and Valeria Rave; brother, John Olsufka; brother in-law, Don Schumuecker; and son-in-law, Dan Greger; parents-in-law, Louis and Susan Parli; brother-in-law, Dan Parli; sister and brother-in-law, Mel and Mary Gertsch; and niece, Jamelyn ‘Jamey’ Viterna.
