Born in Mecklenburg County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Fred Dodson and Kate Ramsey Strum. She was the widow of William Berry Baker. Mrs. Baker was a loving and devoted daughter, wife and sister. She was a retired employee of A&P Tea Company. She was an active member and dedicated worker at Gillburg United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., at Gillburg United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Kellie Gallagher. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are two sisters, Myrtle S. Langston and Thelma S. Hedgepeth (John), both of Henderson; two brothers, Coen Strum (Sadie) and Raymond Strum. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha S. Oldham, Annie Pearl S. Jordan, and Rose S. Paschall; and two brothers, Edward Strum and James Strum. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. All other times, they will be at the home. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Hardee, Neal Wolffe, Pete Fleming, Winston Kerley, Starr Faulkner, Ronnie Hayes, Wayne Grissom, Matt Grissom, Robert Jackson, Tim Lentz, and Dusty Owens. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Gillburg United Methodist Church, c/o Rev. Kellie Gallagher, 4246 U.S. Highway 401 N, Louisburg, NC 27549.
