Description	:	Norman B. Kenel, 79, of Fort Madison, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Norman was born on Jan. 16, 1925, the son of Ernest and Mary E. Stevens Kenel. He is retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. He married Mary Holtkamp on Oct. 22, 1946. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he was a member of D.A.V. Kenel, 79, of Fort Madison, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Norman was born on Jan. 16, 1925, the son of Ernest and Mary E. Stevens Kenel. He is retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. He married Mary Holtkamp on Oct. 22, 1946. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he was a member of D.A.V. Survivors include four sons: Daniel (wife Debbie) Kenel of West Point, Douglas Kenel of Fort Madison, Gary (wife Janet) Kenel of Fort Madison, and Walter (wife Tammy) Kenel of Bend, Ore.; two daughters, Norma (husband Paul) VanPelt of Fort Madison, and Catherine (husband Jim) McInteer of Denmark; one sister, Frances Meierotto of Sarasota, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers. Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, with a Rosary being recited at 3 p.m., and the family will meet with friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and a Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at King-Lynk Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Thomas Parlette officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
