Description	:	Norman was the son of Albert Garver (1855-1938) and Lillian McGaw (1856-1908). He married Della Cora (Hays) DePreste Robb on May 29, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, Lawrence County, Missouri. Norm was Della's third husband and loved by all who knew him. It was his first and only marriage and her children and grandchildren were as his own. After Della's death in 1937, Norm stayed on the farm until the mid 1940's, when he sold the family farm to my parents Paul and Evelyn (Hook) DePreste and moved into the nearby town of Miller. Norm later entered... Read More	Norman was the son of Albert Garver (1855-1938) and Lillian McGaw (1856-1908). He married Della Cora (Hays) DePreste Robb on May 29, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, Lawrence County, Missouri. Norm was Della's third husband and loved by all who knew him. It was his first and only marriage and her children and grandchildren were as his own. After Della's death in 1937, Norm stayed on the farm until the mid 1940's, when he sold the family farm to my parents Paul and Evelyn (Hook) DePreste and moved into the nearby town of Miller. Norm later entered the Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. I met this fine gentleman when I was a young teenager and will never forget the affection between him and my father. They truly were grandfather and grandson. Della was buried next to her first husband James Timothy DePreste at Davis Cemetery near Miller. Norm was buried at Nelson Cemetery as are his parents. Spanish-American War - CO B 22 REGIMENT KANAS INFANTRY. The regiment was mustered into United States service May 17, 1898, and departed May 25th from Topeka by rail for Camp Alger, Va. On August 2nd the regiment marched to its new camp near Manassas, arriving on August 9th. The regiment moved by rail August 27th to Camp George C. Meade in Pennsylvania, leaving there September 9th and reaching Leavenworth September 13th where the regiment was given a 30-day furlough. The regiment was officially mustered out on November 3rd, 1898. It was in active service (drilling and training) for four months.
