Description	:	Norman C. Christensen, 90, Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Edmore, ND, died at St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton, ND on February 28, 2008. Norman C. Christensen was born April 24, 1917 in Mapleton, ND. He was the son of Nickolas and Betsy Grindberg Christensen. He grew up in Mapleton, graduated from Mapleton High School and attended college at Moorhead State University. Norman married Alice Hattie Bono on June 7, 1941 in Moorhead, MN. Read More	Norman C. Christensen, 90, Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Edmore, ND, died at St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton, ND on February 28, 2008. Norman C. Christensen was born April 24, 1917 in Mapleton, ND. He was the son of Nickolas and Betsy Grindberg Christensen. He grew up in Mapleton, graduated from Mapleton High School and attended college at Moorhead State University. Norman married Alice Hattie Bono on June 7, 1941 in Moorhead, MN. They moved to the Edmore vicinity where they both taught school at Highland Center Consolidated School during the 1941-1942 school year. Norman volunteered for Armed Service in August of 1942, and served in World War II in the European Theater. He returned home in April, 1946, an Infantry Captain. Norman taught in the Edmore School system until February 2, 1948, at which time he became a Rural Letter Carrier at the Edmore Post Office. In December, 1950 he was recalled to active duty in the Korean War where he served for 16 months. Upon his return to Edmore, he delivered mail to rural patrons for more than 50 years until his retirement on June 30, 2000. He is survived by his daughters Cristina M. Christensen, Sun City, AZ and Karen (Roger) Kalinowski, Wahpeton, ND; grandsons Matt (Stephanie), Christine, ND and Ben (Gina), Bellevue, NE; two great-grandsons, Tanner and Tyler, Bellevue, NE; a brother Nick (Lois), in Florida, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Alice, his wife of 66 years, on December 11, 2007; his parents; a brother, George (Susie); and two sisters, Ruth (Carl) Olson and Phyllis (Alan) Hanson. Mr. Christensen bequeathed his body to the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. A combined memorial service was held for Norman and Alice at the Living Word Church, Edmore, ND on June 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m.
