Dalseide was born on Sept.19, 1918 in Rolfe, Iowa to Carl and Tille (Iverson) Dalseide. Norman’s father was a minister, and the family lived in several different cities while he was a young boy, spending several years in Canada during the Depression years. The family then moved to the Canton area where his father was minister of the Lands Lutheran Church. In 1941, Norman entered the Army and served honorably until 1945. After his discharge, he returned to Canton and worked in the creamery for a while and also assisted farmers with their work whenever he was needed. On Sept. 25, 1948, Norman and Grace Lundstrom were married in the Lands Lutheran Church. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Sioux Falls and in 1950, he went to work for John Morell, spending most of his work years in the loading and shipping department. He retired in Sept. of 1982. His survivors include his wife, Grace; 3 sons and 2 daughters, four brothers, Ivan Dalseide, Morris, MN, Carl Dalseide, North Bend, OR, Stanley Dalseide, Chicago, IL and Clifford Dalseide, Lorton, Virginia and 1 sister.
