He immigrated to the U.S. in 1902. He attended Scandinavia Academy 1904-1905 and United Church Seminary C.T. 1905-1908. He served in the U.C. Carl Dalseide Funeral services were conducted Monday for the Rev. Carl L. Dalseide, 78, a former pastor of the Moe parish now retired, who died late last Wednesday afternoon after a heart attack three days before. Rev. Dalseide served the Moe parish from 1920 to 1929. The Rev. Marvin Rygh, pastor of the Canton church, the Rev. Dr. L. A. Pierson of Sioux Falls, president of the South Dakota district of the church, and Rev. E. H. Fretheim, pastor of the Moe parish now, conducted the services in the Canton Lutheran church Monday afternoon. Honary pallbearers were Ole A. Ekle, C. B. Asper, Herman Johnson, Ole Thormodsgaard, Gus Dokken and Arthur Sogn. Acting were Oscar Jensvold, Chris Moen, Leo Tollefson, Odin Fossum, Clarence Johnson and Adolph Nelson. Burial was in the Forest Hill cemetery. Rev. Dalseide had lived in Canton since he retired from the ministry in 1946, coming here from his last pastorate at Ambrose, N. Dak. He was born in Norway near Bergen September 29, 1879 at Dalside. He came to this country in his early twenties and he studied at an academy at Scandinavia, Wisc., and graduated from the United Lutheran seminary at Minneapolis in June. 1908. He first served as a mission pastor in western South Dakota and then at several Iowa towns, Calendar, Rolfe, Moreland, Paullina and Sioux City, from 1909 to 1920, before he came to the Moe parish, where he served from 1920 to 1929. His next pastorate was at Parkside, Saskatchewan, Canada, serving nine years until 1941, when he moved to Ambrose N. Dak., serving until retiring in 1946 and moving to Canton. He married Tillie Iverson August 19, 1914, who survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Frank Miralgio and Mrs. Elmer Thielsen of Chicago; five sons, Ivan of Cameo, Saskatchewan, Norman of Sioux Falls, Carl of Canton, Stanley of Chicago and Clifford, who is completing service aboard an LST in the navy; and a Sister, Mrs. Anna Johnson of Milwaukee, Wisc. ======================================
