On Nov 24, 1952, he married Barbara Lea Cook, who preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, David (Jennifer), St. Marys, and Dean (Barbara), New Bremen; a daughter, Nan (Tim) Flohre, Huber Heights; a brother, Donald, FL; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a close cousin Alice Mender, Toledo; and a special friend and companion, Martha Nagel, St. Marys. He was a member and past president of Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767 in St. Marys, past state deputy for Ohio district # 22 of Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a life member of VFW Post # 9289 and American Legion Post # 323, both in St. Marys. He served as a coach for the youth baseball league in St. Marys for many years. His favorite pastimes included golfing, bowling, boating on his pontoon and spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral rites are scheduled at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, officiating.
