Description	:	Norman K. Jensen, born in Wenatchee on April 29, 1915 passed away on January 17, 2004. The youngest of six children, Norm was a lifelong resident of Wenatchee. He was the youngest member of a family that continues to live in the Wenatchee valley, four generations later. Norm attended Wenatchee High School, graduating in 1933. Read More	Norman K. Jensen, born in Wenatchee on April 29, 1915 passed away on January 17, 2004. The youngest of six children, Norm was a lifelong resident of Wenatchee. He was the youngest member of a family that continues to live in the Wenatchee valley, four generations later. Norm attended Wenatchee High School, graduating in 1933. He was the captain of the 1932 football team, a title later held by his son and grandsons. He attended Washington State College (now WSU) for one quarter before leaving due to the financial constraints of The Depression. He took a job with the U.S. Postal Service. Norman married June Wilson of Oroville on November 8, 1940. Their son, Eric, was born in 1942. Norm served in the U.S. Army from 1945-47, primarily in the Philippines as part of the Army's mail service during the reconstruction of the region following WWII. After returning to Wenatchee, Norm and June had their daughter, Nancy, born September 11, 1947. With the help of his brother Arne, Norm began building the house he resided in for the rest of his life on Springwater Avenue, completing the project in the early 1950s. During much of his life, Norm maintained a small orchard on his property, selling his apples to the Skookum warehouse. He received the Golden Apple Award for quality grade. He and his wife June also maintained a large vegetable garden on their property, providing fresh produce for many family members and friends. Norm's interests included spending time with his family, gardening, photography, traveling, coin and stamp collecting, reading, and writing letters. He and June spent many mornings meeting with lifelong friends for coffee and conversation. Norm also kept in touch with his Wenatchee High School classmates, attending their 70 year class reunion this past summer. Norm was preceded in death by his four brothers, Harry, Bob, Arne, and Erwell; his sister, Ellen; and his son, Eric. He is survived by his wife, June of Wenatchee; his daughter, Nancy of Seattle; his daughter-in-law, Myrna, of Wenatchee; three grandchildren, Koll, Marya, and Todd; and one great-granddaughter, Carmen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Eric C. Jensen Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington, or to Home Care and Hospice at Central Washington Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee. Private interment will be scheduled at a later date in the Wenatchee Cemetery.
